The things we leave behind
A field note about caring for the shore without tidying away its life.
In our imagined Saturday clean-up, the crew learns to tell litter from habitat. Driftwood, seaweed and shells belong to the shoreline; packaging and fishing line do not.
We work slowly, leave animals undisturbed and ask the crew lead when we are unsure. The best clean-up leaves room for the shore to be itself.
